Watermelon Champagne Sangria

Makes 6 servings.
INGREDIENTS:

2 cups chopped seedless watermelon
1 seedless orange, peeled and broken into sections¨
1 apple, wedged
1 Asian pear, wedged
1 cup seedless grapes, cut into halves
1 bottle dry champagne of choice
DIRECTIONS:
Toss the fruit together in a bowl or pitcher. Pour the champagne over and let sit for at least 2 hours or more.

TCM analysis:
Watermelon: Sweet, cold. ST, HT, UB. Clears heat toxin, quenches thirst, relieves irritability, promotes urination.
Orange: Sweet, sour, cool. LV, LU, ST, UB. Clears heat, soothes LV, nourishes fluids.
Apple: Sweet, sour, cool. SP, ST, HT, LU. Supplements LU, SP, ST, moistens LU and LI, clears heat and promotes body fluids.
Asian pear — cold & sweet: generates fluids, calms HT, relieves restlessness, clears heat, detoxifies
Grapes: Sweet, sour, neutral. LV, KD, UB. Tonifies qi and blood, nourishes yin and body fluids, strengthens bone and tendon, promotes urination.
Champagne: Pungent, sweet, warm. ST, LV, HT. Expels cold, invigorates blood, stops pain.
Overall: Clears heat from HT. The heat from the wine is offset by the cooling nature of the fruits. Should be used in small quantities.
