Pear Bai He Tea

Ingredients

  • ½ cup dried unsweetened pears, diced (or 1 fresh pear, diced)
  • 12 grams bai he (if fresh, one lily bulb)
  • 1 bag green tea
  • 1 – 3 tsp honey
  • 3 cups water

Directions

  1. Put the pear, bai he and water in a non-reactive saucepan.
  2. Let soak for 30 minutes.
  3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and cook at simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Turn off heat. Remove lid and add the green tea bag. Let steep for 3 minutes and remove.
  5. Add honey. Stir well to dissolve.
  6. Strain and enjoy. Eat the pear.
  7. When reheating, do so on the stovetop.

Options: can easily double recipe and keep a jar in the refrigerator.

Pear: Cold, sweet; LU, LI; Moisten Lung, descend Lung qi, stop cough, transform phlegm, lubricate intestines, clear heat.

Bai he:  Sl. cold, sweet; LU, HRT; Moisten Lung, stop cough, clear HRT, calm mind, clear heat.

Green tea:  Cool, bitter, sweet; Resolve phlegm, promote digestion, clear mind, clear heat.

Honey:  Neutral to warm, sweet; SP,ST, LU; Nourish Yin, lubricate dryness, tonify Spleen.

CI:  severe Spleen Qi or Yang Deficiency; Cold-Phlegm of the Lung
