Brown Rice Porridge

1 cup brown rice (coarsely ground)
2 cups water
1/2 cup gou qi zi
2 tbsp raw honey
2 tbsp unrefined, expeller pressed flaxseed oil

In medium sauce pan, bring rice to a boil and reduce heat. Add gou qi zi and let simmer for 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally. When a pasty consistency is achieved, remove from heat and add honey and flax oil. Serves 2 people.

Brown rice: Sweet, sour, warm; SP/ST. Strengthens SP/ST, drains damp, relieves irritability, stops diarrhea, cold hands and feet and nervous debility (contains B vitamins).

Flax seed: sweet, neutral; Strengthens immunity, relieves inflammation, reduces pain, benefits heart, lowers cholesterol.
Overall, this recipe tonifies SP/ST, nourishes LV/KD yin, and clears heat.
