American Ginseng and Abalone Soup

American Ginseng and Abalone Soup
Lean pork-150gm (Cooling, sweet, fatty, supplements blood and YIN)
Dried Abalone-one (120 to 150gm) (cold, salty, tonifies YIN)
American ginseng-20gm (sweet, bitter, cooling, nourishes LU YIN and clears fire from LU Yin Xu)
Dried lily bulb-20gm (sweet, bitter, cold, moistens the LU and clears heat)
1. Soak abalone overnight until soft, rinse well with warm water and cut into thin slices. If fresh abalone is used, only cut into slices after it is cooked.
2. Wash pork and cut into big pieces. Rinse herbs.
3. Put all ingredients in a pot with adequate water (about 6 to 8 cups) and simmer for 3 hours until abalone is tender and soft.
4. Add salt to serve. Eat abalone with soup.
Nourish lungs and tonify yin, quench thirst and promote vital fluids, clear phlegm, relieve insomnia. Especially good for abnormal thirst and hot, weak lungs, phlegm, or restless sleep.
