Whole Wheat Biscuits

(Makes 10 biscuits)

Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/2 cup safflower oil
1/2 cup nondairy milk (More or less as needed)

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 450* F.
Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Slowly pour in the oil, mixing with a fork until the mixture is combined. It will be quite crumbly. Add the milk a little at a time, stirring with a fork. You want to use just enough milk to bring the mixture together.
Gather the dough into a ball, and place it on a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough about 25 times, then sooth the dough into a ball and pat it into a 1/2 inch thick round disk. Use a 2-1/2 inch biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass or jar to cut out biscuits, gathering the scraps and re-rolling them to make a few additional biscuits. Place the biscuits on an un-greased baking sheet. If you like the sides crispier, place them about 1 inch apart. For softer sides, have the biscuits touching.
Bake on the center rack for 10-12 minutes or until the bottoms are golden.

Analysis:
Wheat- Sweet and sl. cold, supplements qi, nourishes heart and calms the shen, reduces thirst, good for qi xu, insomnia, and restlessness
Sea Salt- Cold, salty, and sl. sweet, harmonizes and promotes digestion, strengthens KD, fortifies bones, tendons and teeth, brightens eyes, and detoxifies

Overall this recipe is used for HT fire because it calms the shen, nourishes the HT, is good for insomnia, restlessness and reduces thirst.
